Earth porn, food porn
Does it bother anyone else how people use these terms to refer to beautiful photos of the earth or food or whatever designed to invoke a feeling of reverence? I mean, it’s a total misuse and watering down of the -porn term. Like “earth porn” should show clear cutting of rainforests, coral bleaching, fracking, you know, degredation
“Word porn” should be insults and slurs, “food porn” could be factory farms or idk something really disgusting
Not only that but it’s equating the word “porn” with perfection (and sexual arousal tbh). It’s basically upholding the idealized version of women found in porn because that’s the connection your mind is supposed to make, and going to make. Porn = perfection, porn=ideal, porn= mouth-watering.
omg yes! I’ve been thinking lately that I’m increasingly disturbed by seeing photos tagged as ~food porn~ but couldn’t really articulate why
